TCHD Health District Starts Vaccination Process for COVID-19
Vernal, UT Dec. 22, 2020 – TriCounty Health Department (TCHD) announces the first shipment of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine (400 doses) to the health district on Dec. 23, 2020 and will begin vaccinating critical TCHD staff in preparation of the first wave of vaccinations. TCHD will begin vaccination based on phases outlined in the Utah COVID-19 vaccination Plan. Each phase is composed of different waves.
TCHD will be administering non-hospital healthcare workers on Monday, Dec. 28, 2020, TCHD is currently making appointments and scheduling priority groups for the first wave. The first priority group in the first phase of vaccinating the public will be those administering vaccines (TCHD nurses), non-hospital healthcare staff, long-term care facilities, and EMS.
Educators are in wave two of the first phase of vaccination distribution but we will not be offered vaccines until all non-hospital healthcare workers across the state are allowed the opportunity to be vaccinated. The second phase of the vaccination process will be shelters, workers at risk, at risk ethnic groups, people living in congregate living facilities. The phases and waves were set up to be able to utilize the vaccine shipments as efficiently as possible for those who need it most.
The plan states that vaccine availability by approximately July 2021 will allow for the third phase to be administering COVID-19 vaccine to anyone in Utah that would like to be vaccinated.
