Swimming Pools/Spas

This program serves to protect the health of Utah citizens and visitors by preventing exposure to harmful levels of environmental agents of disease and injury that might be found in pools without such prevention. Activities include identifying deficiencies in pool water quality disinfection; collecting and evaluating surveillance data on diseases associated with poor sanitation; training local health department and industry professionals; writing and interpreting state safety standards for public pools; and creating partnerships with local health departments and industry to enhance pool safety and protect the public.

Rules

Certified Pool Operator Training (CPO)

Public pools must be supervised by an operator that is certified or recertified by a program of training and testing that is approved by the Utah Department of Health. To find course information, click on one of the links below:

List of Approved Lifeguard Training Providers in Utah

All lifeguards at public pools must be trained in Lifeguarding, First-Aid, and CPR/AED by a provider from the list below:
