September is Sexual Health Awareness month. There’s so many things to be aware of when it comes to sexual health. 

Getting screened for STI’s (sexually transmitted infections) is important. All adults (13-64) should be tested for HIV at least once in their life. 

All sexually active women younger than 25 should be tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea every year, Women older than 25 should be testted annually if they have new or multiple sexual partners.  All pregnant women should also be tested. 

 

There are ways to protect yourself and your partner(s) 

  • Vaccinations (HPV and Hepatitis B)

  • Abstinence

  • Reduce the number of partners

  • Practice monogamy in relationships

  • Use condoms
