- Solid waste disposal
- All solid waste must go to an approved landfill. It cannot be buried or burned.
- Dumping solid waste detracts from our beautiful community.
- Burning solid waste increases Pm 2.5 which creates health issues such as coughing, difficulty breathing, aggravated asthma, increased blood pressure, and irregular heartbeat.
- Unknown chemicals are released when burning solid waste.
- Vegetation is not defined as solid waste and can be burned during the spring burn window. March 30-May 30. The clearing index must be 500’+
- Waste Tires
- Waste tires must be recycled or used for beneficial use. (Not a fence)
- They can not be burned or buried.
- You pay to have them recycled every time you purchase a new tire.
3, Used oil
- Used oil is used motor oil, hydraulic oils, and transmission fluids
- Used oil must go to a used oil collection center.
- One gallon of used oil can pollute one million gallons of water.
- Used motor oil is insoluble, persistent, and can contain toxic chemicals and heavy metals.
- It’s slow to degrade.
- It sticks to everything from soil to bird feathers.
- It’s a major source of oil contamination of waterways Used motor oil is the largest single source of oil pollution in our lakes, rivers, and streams and can result in pollution of drinking water sources.
- Hantavirus
- Our area has had deaths from Hantavirus.
- It is caused by inhaling dust when cleaning areas with mouse droppings.
- Spray mouse droppings with a chlorine solution before cleaning. Carpets can be shampooed not vacuumed.
