Educators in Uintah, Duchesne and Daggett Counties get vaccinated

Vernal, UT Jan. 12, 2021 – TriCounty Health Department (TCHD) began vaccinating K-12 educators in Uintah, Duchesne and Daggett counties on Jan. 12, 2021 and will continue vaccinating K-12 educators in the tri-county area throughout the week, or until vaccination supplies run out.

TCHD is partnering with Uintah Basin Healthcare, the Uintah School District nursing staff, and medically trained Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) volunteers to help administer the COVID-19 vaccine. As of the date of this release, TCHD is scheduled to vaccinate 400 educators the week of Jan. 12, 2021.

“Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 decreases the likelihood of contracting the virus. The more people that get vaccinated, the less likely the chances of contracting COVID-19, which will decrease and prevent hospital stays and death due to COVID-19. The more people we vaccinate, the faster we return to normal,” Darrin Brown, Environmental Health Director/Interim Health Officer, said.

TCHD reminds the public as public vaccination approaches, that the likelihood of severe side effects from the COVID-19 vaccine is less than 0.5%. When mild side effects occur they are a sign your body is building protection to the virus and most go away in a few days.

TCHD is currently collecting names and phone numbers to be put on a COVID-19 vaccine waiting list for when vaccines are available to those 70 years old and older. Call 435-247-1177 if you are 70 years old or older and would like a vaccine against COVID-19.
