Vernal, UT Jan. 6, 2021 – TriCounty Health Department (TCHD) teamed up with Ashley Regional Medical Center (ARMC) and Uintah Basin Healthcare (UBH) to vaccinate local long term care and assisted living facility residents and staff.

“Working together with local hospitals to vaccinate long term care and assisted living facilities helps us move quickly through vaccinating this vulnerable population and those who care for them.” TCHD Director of Nursing, KayCee Asay said.

TCHD, ARMC and UBH received a combined total of 1,500 Moderna COVID-19 vaccine doses to date and as of Jan. 5, 2021, the tri-county area has administered a total of 877 doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

UBH vaccinated long term care facility staff and residents in Roosevelt, at the Villa, Dec. 29, 2020 and Parkside Manor, Dec. 30, 2020.

“We believe in the COVID-19 vaccine. I myself have received the vaccine. There is a standard of safety and effectiveness as this has been assessed by the FDA and trusted partners. Please protect yourself, your loved ones and our community. Trust your healthcare professionals. Trust the science. Do your part to help end this,” Greg Staker, MD, Chief Medical Officer at Uintah Basin Healthcare said.

On Jan. 4, 2020, TCHD began vaccinating Uintah Care Center staff in partnership with ARMC. ARMC is currently vaccinating Uintah Care Center residents. Beehive Homes will be vaccinated by Walgreens pharmacy later this month.

“We are encouraged with the speed of distribution and that the vaccine surplus from Ashley Regional Medical Center will be provided to residents in our Vernal community care centers. As high risk individuals, it will be important that residents have quick access to the vaccine. Our staff look forward to helping with vaccine administration in this population,” Greg Gardiner, RN, chief clinical officer at ARMC, said.

TCHD continues to move through the vaccination process and is beginning to vaccinate law enforcement, fire and non-EMS first responding agencies. After healthcare, non-EMS first responders, law enforcement, long term care and non-hospital healthcare, TCHD will be vaccinating K-12 educators.
